The AEGIS fireproof Rifle Safe has a million red flags all over it. Every day it feels like there are 10 more new Chinese companies selling “safes” on Amazon. I can assure you, these companies do not care about you, do not care about providing you with a quality product and will be the most unhelpful when something inevitably goes wrong. But, have no fear, I am here to help make sure you don’t buy this worthless crap of a gun safe.
First, let’s start with their title of the product which claims it is UL certified. The extremely low quality electronic lock they use is definitely not UL certified as UL does not allow any key override to maintain the certification. This has a key override for when the lock inevitably fails, thus it is not UL certified. From a security standpoint, the AEGIS Fireproof Rifle Safe is also not UL certified for burglary as it is built with 14 gauge steel and only has three active locking bolts on the door side. This lack of steel and bolts makes it far too easy to break into with a crowbar and one person. UL requires a minimum 12 gauge steel, hardplate and relocker to be eligible for the Residential Security Container burglary rating, none of which this safe has. Second, in the title, AEGIS claims this gun safe is fireproof. This is also not true as no safe is fireproof. They are fire resistant for a specified period of time. AEGIS claims this gun safe is fire rated for 30 minutes at 1400 degrees but does not use any certified testing agency such as UL or ETL to verify this claim. AEGIS also claims the fireproof rifle safe is built with stainless steel which is also not true as the steel alone would cost more than the safe. This is standard 14 gauge Chinese steel, nothing more.
In addition to the multiple false claims throughout the title and listing, the english used in the bullet points is terrible grammar with multiple misspellings and sentences that simply don’t make sense. If the time they spent on their Amazon listing is of any comparison to the quality of the safe, you will be in for a world of disappointment.
The last major red flag in the AEGIS fireproof rifle safe is the fact that nearly all of the reviews are fake and actually for a different product. Amazon sellers do this by selling a cheap product to generate reviews, then switching it over to the actual product they want to sell which is often more expensive and a slow seller. They then pay additional money for advertising with the false reviews pumping up the product.
Worst of all, this is not even that great of a price point for this safe. There are multiple options in a similar or better price point such as the Stealth EGS14, Stealth EGS23, Steelwater SWSD16GUN-EMP among others.
I would just walk away from this POS, I would run as fast and as far as possible.
